Laurent Noël (born March 19, 1920 in Saint-Just-de-Bretenières ) is bishop emeritus of Trois Rivières .

Life

Laurent Noël received on 16 June 1944, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 25, 1963 auxiliary bishop in Québec and titular bishop of Agathopolis . The Archbishop of Québec, Maurice Roy , donated him episcopal ordination on August 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Lionel Audet , Auxiliary Bishop in Québec, and Louis Joseph Jean Marie Fortier , Auxiliary Bishop in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière . Until 1965 Noël took part in the second to fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . From September 7, 1974 to August 15, 1975 he was Apostolic Administrator of Hauterive during the Sedis vacancy .

He was appointed Bishop of Trois-Rivières on November 8, 1975 . The inauguration took place on December 13 of the same year.

On November 21, 1996, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Together with him and other council fathers still alive, Pope Benedict XVI opened. 2012 the year of faith on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Council.
