Titular diocese of Agathopolis
Agathopolis ( Italian : Agatopoli ) is a titular archbishopric of the Roman Catholic Church .
It goes back to an earlier diocese in the Roman province of Thracia or in late antiquity Haemimontus in the eastern part of the Upper Thracian Plain . It belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Hadrianopolis in Haemimonto .
The eponymous city was an important port until the 15th century, which then fell into disrepair in the course of the Ottoman expansion . Today the town of Ahtopol is in its place . It is located in Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast, just a few kilometers north of the border with Turkey .
