Diocese of Chengdu

The Roman Catholic diocese of Chengtu also Chengdu (lat. Dioecesis Cemtuanus ), located in the People's Republic of China , was founded in 1680 as the Apostolic Vicariate Se-Ciuen, changed to the Apostolic Vicariate of Northwest Sichuan on April 2, 1856 . It changed its name to Chengdu on December 3, 1924 and was made a diocese on April 11, 1946. The bishopric is the city of Chengdu .

Together with the dioceses of Kangting , Kiating , Ningyüan , Shunking , Suifu and Wanhsien , it belongs to the Archdiocese of Chungking .

  • Jacques-Victor-Marius Rouchouse , MEP (born June 6, 1870 in St. Etienne, France, † December 20, 1948 in Chengtu), ordained a priest June 30, 1895, appointed Vicar Apostolic on June 28, 1916 at the same time titular bishop of Aegeae and appointed bishop on April 11, 1946.
  • Henri-Marie-Ernest-Désiré Pinault , MEP (born September 7, 1904 in Trévérien, France, † February 24, 1987 in Chengtu), ordained a priest on June 29, 1929, appointed bishop on July 14, 1949, retired in 1983 .
