Yibin diocese
The diocese of Yibin ( Latin : Dioecesis Siufuanus ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Yibin in the People's Republic of China .
history
Pope Pius IX founded the Apostolic Vicariate South Sichuan on January 24, 1860 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Northwest Sichuan . On August 12, 1910, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Kienchang . It took the name, Apostolic Vicariate Suifu, on December 3, 1924.
On July 10, 1929, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Yazhou Apostolic Prefecture . With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946. The official bishop of the Patriotic Association , appointed by the government, was John Chen Shi-zhong from 1992 until his death in 2012.
