The diocese of Leshan ( lat. : Dioecesis Chiatimensis ) is in the People's Republic of China Located Roman Catholic diocese based in Leshan .

history

The diocese of Leshan was founded on July 10, 1929 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ut spirituali from cessions of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Suifu as Apostolic Prefecture Yachow . The Apostolic Prefecture Yachow was on March 3, 1933 by Pius XI. raised to the apostolic vicariate . On February 9, 1938, the Yachow Apostolic Vicariate was renamed Leshan Apostolic Vicariate .

The Apostolic Vicariate Leshan was on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. elevated to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Chongqing as a suffragan .
