The diocese of Nanchong ( Latin : Dioecesis Scioenchimensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Nanchong in the People's Republic of China .

history

Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Vicariate Nancheng with the Breve Supremi Apostolatus on August 2, 1929 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Chengtu .

With the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos it was raised to the diocese on April 11, 1946. From 1989 the official bishop was Monsignor Michael Huang Woze until his death on March 22, 2004. The diocese has around 70,000 Catholics and 15 priests.
