Vital Massé

Vital Massé (born December 16, 1936 in Saint-Barthélémy ) is a Canadian clergyman and emeritus bishop of Mont-Laurier .

Life

Vital Massé was ordained a priest for the diocese of Joliette on May 26, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in Saint-Jérôme and Titular Bishop of Giru Marcelli on October 20, 1993 . The Archbishop of Montréal , Jean-Claude Turcotte , donated him episcopal ordination on December 8th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were René Audet , former bishop of Joliette, and Gilles Lussier , bishop of Joliette.

On September 8, 2001, he was appointed Bishop of Mont-Laurier . On February 1, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation request submitted by Vital Massé for reasons of age.
