Gilles Lussier

Gilles Lussier (born June 5, 1940 in Montréal ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Joliette .

Life

Gilles Lussier was ordained a priest on December 19, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Saint-Jérôme and titular bishop of Augurus on December 23, 1988 . The Archbishop of Montréal , Cardinal Paul Grégoire , donated him episcopal ordination on February 28 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Gilles Ouellet PME , Archbishop of Rimouski , and Charles-Omer Valois , Bishop of Saint-Jérôme .

He was appointed Bishop of Joliette on September 7, 1991 and was introduced to the office on October 17 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 8, 2015.
