The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Rimouski ( Latin Archidioecesis Sancti Germani ) is in Canada situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Rimouski .
history
The diocese Rimouski was on January 15, 1867 by Pope Pius IX. built from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Québec and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On May 29, 1882, the Diocese of Rimouski gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Saint Lawrence Gulf . Another assignment of territory took place on May 5, 1922 to establish the diocese of Gaspé .
On February 9, 1946, the diocese Rimouski was by Pope Pius XII. raised to the archbishopric.
