Pierre-André Fournier (born June 8, 1943 in Plessisville , † January 10, 2015 in Rimouski ) was Archbishop of Rimouski .

Life

Pierre-André Fournier was ordained priest on June 10, 1967 by Maurice Cardinal Roy . From 1987 to 1993 he was a commissioner for social affairs in the Assembly of Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Québec . In August 2003, Fournier became episcopal vicar for pastoral affairs in the Archdiocese of Québec .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Québec and titular bishop of Diana on February 11, 2005 . The Archbishop of Québec, Cardinal Marc Ouellet PSS , donated him episcopal ordination on April 10 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Jean-Pierre Blais , Auxiliary Bishop in Québec, and Eugène Tremblay , Bishop of Amos .

On July 3, 2008 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Archbishop of Rimouski and appointed to office on September 28 of the same year. He died of heart disease on January 10, 2015 at the age of 71.
