Louis Lévesque

Louis Lévesque (born May 27, 1908 in Amqui , Québec , † March 12, 1998 ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Rimouski .

Life

Louis Lévesque received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Rimouski on June 26, 1932 .

On June 9, 1952, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Hearst . The Apostolic Delegate in Canada, Archbishop Ildebrando Antoniutti , donated him episcopal ordination on August 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Ottawa , Alexandre Vachon , and the Archbishop of Rimouski, Charles Eugène Parent . The inauguration took place on August 28, 1952.

On April 13, 1964, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Egnatia and ordered him to Koadjutorerzbischof Rimouski. Louis Lévesque became Archbishop of Rimouski on February 25, 1967, succeeding the resigned Charles Eugène Parent.

On April 27, 1973 Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Louis Lévesque for health reasons.

Louis Lévesque attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
