The ms translandia was a ferry of the Sietas -type 90, which by the Finnish Eckerö Line (daughter of the Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö ) of 18 May 2004 to 30 December 2012 at traffic between Helsinki , Vuosaari (port in the eastern part of the city) and Reval (D-Terminal in Vanasadam - dt. Old Port) was used. The larger Nordlandia of the Eckerö-Line fleet, on the other hand, sailed into the western port, Länsisatama , from 1998 .

history

Transgermania (1976-1993)

The ship was built in 1976 under construction number 792 by the JJ Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde and delivered as Transgermania to Poseidon Schiffahrts oHG in Lübeck on October 30, 1976 . It was used between Germany and Finland, among others. On June 10, 1978, the ship ran aground on the voyage from Hamina to Amsterdam near Kiel . On December 27, 1990, the ship ran aground on the voyage from Hull to Turku off Turku and was repaired in Turku from January to April 1991.

From November 1991 Norse Irish Ferries chartered the ship and used it between Belfast and Liverpool . From June to July 1992 SeaWind Line chartered the ship for operations between Stockholm and Turku. Finncarriers chartered the ship in November 1992 . From May to July 1993 SeaWind Line chartered the ship again for operations between Stockholm and Turku.

Rosebay (1993-1995)

In 1993 the ship was transferred to Poseidon Schiffahrt AG and started sailing as Rosebay under the flag of Cyprus with its home port Limassol . In the same year Transeuropa Line chartered the ship and used it between Koper and Durres . From July 1994 Stena Line Holland chartered the Rosebay and used it first between Rotterdam and Harwich and from June 1995 between Hook of Holland and Harwich. The charter ended in June 1995. In the same month the ship was transferred to Maritime Co. Ltd, but remained in service under the Cyprus flag.

Eurostar (1995-1997)

From May 1995 Holyman Sally Ferries chartered the ship and renamed it Eurostar . It was used between Ostend and Ramsgate .

Eurocruiser (1997-1998)

In August 1997 the name was changed to Eurocruiser .

Rosebay (1998)

In May 1998 the ship was renamed Rosebay and was launched .

From June 1998 Stena Line Holland chartered the ship again for operations between Hoek Van Holland and Harwich. In March 1993 the ship switched to the Fishguard - Rosslare route . From October 2000 it served the Hook of Holland – Killingholme route. In March 2001 it was launched in Rotterdam .

Transparades (2001-2004)

In April 2001, the ship was sold to Rederi Ab Engship for $ 9 million. Nagu in Finland became the new home port . The ship was chartered to Botnia Link . The charter should run for four years. It was converted in Dunkirk for operation in the Baltic Sea .

In May 2001 the name was changed to Transparaden . The ship was used between Härnösand , Vaasa and Umeå . In November 2002 Botnia Link went bankrupt and the ship subsequently laid up in Turku.

From December 2002, DFDS Tor Line chartered the ship for six months and initially used it between Kiel and Riga , and from January 2003 to June between Lübeck and Riga.

From June 2003 the ship operated on the route Fredericia - Copenhagen - Klaipėda .

In December 2003, SCF St. Petersburg Lines chartered the ship for operation between Kiel and Saint Petersburg . Rederi Ab Eckerö bought the ship in February 2004, but chartered it to St. Petersburg Lines until the end of April 2003.

Translandia (2004-2014)

In May 2004 the ship was renamed Translandia and then used by Eckerö Line between Helsinki and Tallinn .

On September 1, 2005, the Translandia collided with the quay in Tallinn and was damaged at the stern.

In January 2013 the ship should be sold to the Cresta Group . However, the Cresta Group was not financially able to buy it and so the ship was instead sold to Salem Al Makrani Cargo Co. from the United Arab Emirates in March 2013 . It sailed under the flag of the Comoros with its home port Moroni . The ship left Tallinn in mid-March 2013 and arrived in Mersin at the beginning of April, after which it was used between Mersin and Port Said . The ship was later used between Al Adabiya and Saudi Arabia .

On May 24, 2014 the ship arrived at MV Ship Traders in Alang, India , and was subsequently scrapped there.
