The Sünser See is a natural high mountain lake (Subalpiner Felsbeckensee) in the extreme southeast of the municipality of the city of Dornbirn in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . It is located as a subalpine rock pool lake at the foot of the summit of the Sünser Spitze at an altitude of about 1810 m above sea level. A. The area around the lake is characterized by the striking Sünser Spitze, the highest mountain in the municipality of Dornbirn, and the adjacent peaks of the Damülser Mountains . The lake has an area of approx. 2.55 hectares and a maximum water depth of approx. 8 meters.
It is listed as a biotope worthy of protection in the Vorarlberg biotope inventory . The municipal boundaries of the city of Dornbirn with the neighboring municipalities of Mellau and Damüls , which lead over the mountain ranges, are around 400 meters north and east of the Sünser See .
