The locomotives of the SŽD series 2ТЭ10У (German transcription 2TE10U) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are wide-gauge diesel locomotives with diesel-electric power transmission, which are primarily used in freight train service. As a double locomotive, they belong to the ТЭ10 family and are the result of the revision of the 2ТЭ10M . The Russian U ( У ) in the name stands for Ukraine , where the Lugansk locomotive factory, which built the locomotives, is located. The individual sections of the locomotive are fully functional and can also be used individually for transporting trains.
history
The locomotive family is a further development of the previously built 2ТЭ10M . In addition to improved electrics, an improved engine with the designation 10D100M2 was used compared to the diesel engine 10D100 used in the 2Т ,10M, which works more fuel-efficiently when idling. The following improvements have been made:
- Reduction of the idling speed to 270 / min;
- Speed controller with six-stage temperature-dependent starting quantity control;
- Cylinder deactivation, which switches off the left bank and five cylinders in the right bank when idling and leaves the five cylinders in the right bank switched off in the first gear;
- Mechanical fuel pump driven by the crankshaft
A total of 555 locomotives were built from the class. They were mainly used in freight traffic, where they can carry 4,200 t of trains on the Odessa railway line Shevchenko - Pomitschna .
From 2005 many locomotives will be repowered. You will receive a new 16-cylinder diesel engine with electronic fuel injection and a more powerful cooling system. The conversion is intended to extend the service life of the locomotives until 2020.
variants
The SŽD series 2ТЭ10УT includes 99 locomotives that were intended for use in passenger train traffic. Compared to the 2ТЭ10У they received a changed gear ratio that allows a maximum speed of 120 km / h, as well as the electropneumatic brake , which enables increased driving comfort for the passengers through the simultaneous activation of the brakes throughout the train. Due to the changed gear ratio, however, they have a lower tractive effort, so that they can only transport trains up to 2,800 t on the Odessa railway line mentioned above.
The SŽD series 2ТЭ10УП comprised only two locomotives, which were built in 1991 for industrial railways.
The SŽD class 3ТЭ10У includes 79 three-part locomotives. The end sections are identical to the 2ТЭ10У, the middle section only has an auxiliary driver's cab with a maneuvering brake valve, so that it cannot be used on its own for driving trains.
