Sattar Bahlulzade

Sattar Bahlulzade (born December 15, 1909 in Əmircan , † October 14, 1974 in Moscow ; Azerbaijani Səttar Bəhlulzadə ) was an Azerbaijani painter whose landscapes are vaguely reminiscent of Van Gogh and are amazingly colorful, especially given the fact that he is in Əmircan lived on the Abseron Peninsula .

Life & Career

The natural beauties of Azerbaijan can be seen in his works . His landscape paintings and lyrical still life pictures, fine carpet motifs reflect the traditional motifs.

Bahlulzade graduated from the Azerbaijan School of Art (1931) and continued his education at the Moscow Art Institute in the USSR (1933-1940). In Moscow he taught well-known artists such as Faworski , Istomin and Grabar .

In 1960 he was honored with the title of Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR and in 1963 with the title of People's Painter of the Azerbaijan SSR .

In 1973 Bahlulzade fell ill with blood poisoning . When Sattar died in 1974, he was not buried on Avenue of the Honored Ones as expected . Instead, he was buried next to his mother's grave in his home village of Amirjan (Azerbaijan), according to his will.
