S'Urbale
The nuragic village S'Urbale is like that of Albini in the valley of the Tirso , south of Teti in the region Mandrolisai in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia . It has around 50 remains of round huts, most of which are built from layers of roughly hewn granite blocks and have residual heights of 1.0–1.5 m. The pointed roof was built from the same materials as those used by the recent Pinnettas of Sardinian shepherds.
The unevenness of the ground at the top of the Cuccuru S'Urbale hill, which was not disturbed by agricultural activities, offered the possibility of a stratigraphically intact part of the village from the 9th century BC. To investigate by a first excavation of eleven huts. The excavation of “Hut F”, on the highest point of the hill, has produced significant cultural insights. Its outer diameter is 7.2 m, the wall thickness 0.9 m. The remaining wall height is 0.8 m. The short south-facing entrance widens inwards, with two orthostatic panels covering it. Traces of clay plaster can be seen on the north wall. Cork wedges were used to cover cracks in the masonry. About 100 objects were found in this room. In a small wall niche, differently shaped spindle whorls , a pintadera and loom weights made of clay were found. The square hearth made of clay in the middle of the room was built on small stones. Fragments of various pots and bowls were discovered near the fire.
Most likely the hut was abandoned due to a massive fire that caused the roof to collapse. Various cultural relics from the Middle Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age have been found in the other huts in the village .
In addition to bronze finds and numerous clay vessels, the faithful reconstruction of one of the huts in the Nuragic settlement can be seen in the Teti Museum.
The Nuragic settlement of Abini is nearby .
