SRI and the uncanny cases ( Kaiki daisakusen / Kaiki SRI / Operation: Mystery! ) Is a 26-part Japanese mystery series from 1968 to 1969 . Toshihiro Iijima directed 5 episodes . 7 of the 26 episodes were written by Shōzo Uehara .
SRI stands for Science Research Institute , a special unit that helped the police with eerie and psychic cases. It was sort of a Japanese X-Files from the 1960s and 1970s .
Episodes
The series was first broadcast in Japan from September 15, 1968 to March 9, 1969. In Germany, only a selection of 13 episodes has been broadcast - the first broadcast on ZDF between July 14 and October 6, 1971 (not in the original order) instead of.

DVD release
In 2013 Pidax Film released a DVD box with all 13 German dubbed episodes. Since the broadcast material of the ZDF was used, the episodes only have German sound. A second box with the remaining 12 episodes, which have not yet been published in Germany, went on sale in 2014. The episodes are all in the original in this box and have been provided with subtitles.
