The Salzach-Kohlenbergbau-Gesellschaft mbH (SAKOG) was a mining company in Trimmelkam , Upper Austria, which operated the mining of lignite .

It was founded on November 18, 1947 with the participation of the federal government, the states of Upper Austria and Salzburg as well as Stern & Hafferl . The seat of the company was in Trimmelkam, parish of St. Pantaleon , where the main mining area and the plant were also located. The groundbreaking for the plant took place on May 18, 1948.

Many of the miners were recruited from the mining areas of Styria, but miners were also hired from Hungary. Especially after the failed uprising in 1956, many Hungarian miners came to the Sakog. Coal mining began in 1952; in December 1993 it was discontinued. The highest number of workers was reached at the end of the 1960s with 1200 employees.

A large part of the lignite mined was burned in the neighboring Riedersbach steam power station , which was built from 1967 to 1969.

After being flooded by several storms, which meant that the mine was inaccessible for weeks, it was closed in 1993 despite massive protests by miners and the population.

The plant and the company buildings were acquired in 1993/1994 by the municipality of Sankt Pantaleon, who built an industrial park on the former site of the mining company and had the mine razed.

In 2001, a cultural association rented the former mining site and used it as a center for artistic and cultural activities.
