The Sportclub Bromberg was a German sports club in the city of Bromberg . The city, which has been in Poland since the end of the Second World War , has the Polish name of Bydgoszcz .

history

On September 2, 1894 , a soccer game between the teams "Blue" and "Red" of the Royal High School in Bromberg, under the direction of the sports teacher Bernhard Kuhse , was played in a meadow near Ostromecko . The game ended 1-1. It was one of the first documented soccer games in Bromberg.

On August 15, 1909, a propaganda game between SC Graudenz and SV Thorn , founded only two months earlier, was held on the high school playground of the Royal High School in Brenkenhoff (Bocianowo) , which the Graudenzer won 4-2. Referee of the game was HW Woettki from Bromberg. After the game, the Bromberg sports club was founded in the Wildiesschen restaurant.

On May 8, 1910, another propaganda game between SC Graudenz and SV Thorn was held on the high school playground, which the Graudenz team won 6-0. On May 17th, students from Gdansk and Königsberg played the next soccer game in Brenkenhoff (Bocianowo), which the Academic Sports Club Gdansk won against the Academic Sports Club Königsberg. In June, SC Bromberg should play their first game in Inowrocław , against SV Thorn.

The club's president was initially Robert Weber, a high school teacher, later Dr. Schacht and von Brehmer. Originally the club had departments for football, athletics, cricket and hockey. In 1911 the club already had ice skating and tennis departments. In 1910 the club had 14 members and together with SC Graudenz and SV Thorn formed District VI (Graudenz). In 1911 the number of members had already risen to 89 members and the SC formed District X (Bromberg) together with Hertha Schneidemühl , also in 1912 . Only now the number of members had dropped back to 30.

The SC played its home games on the parade ground of the cavalry barracks and the barracks of the 14th Infantry Regiment and in the Danzig Forest.
