The Sporting Club de Toulon is a French football club from the port city of Toulon , capital of the French department of Var on the Côte d'Azur .

It was founded in 1944 as the Sporting Club de Toulon through the merger of two local clubs, the older of which, the Sporting Club du Temple , was founded in 1933; that is why one occasionally finds this earlier founding date. The club carried this name until 1998; then he was excluded from the league due to financial problems and re-established under the name Sporting Toulon Var . In February 2016, at the initiative of the city administration, the club started merger negotiations with local rivals SC Toulon-Le Las , which at that time was playing a league higher than the traditional club. This merger was successful, so the club got its old name again Sporting Club de Toulon .

The club colors are azure and gold; the league team plays in the Stade de Bon Rencontre , which has a capacity of approx. 8,000 seats. The club's president is Alain Bencivengo.
