The SEZ Holding AG ( S emiconductor- E quipment Z ccessories) based in Zurich was an international Swiss manufacturer of process equipment for the production of microchips .
The company was founded in 1986 by Egon Putzi, Franz Sumnitsch and Walter Nadrag in Villach as a GmbH in 1988 . Putzi and Sumnitsch previously worked for ams . The main location with development and production was in Villach. In 1996, SEZ went public. The SEZ Holding AG founded for this purpose was based in Zurich .
SEZ Holding developed, produced and sold single wafer systems for wet chemical surface processing of wafers for the semiconductor industry . The SEZ Group employed around 880 people in 2007 and achieved consolidated sales of 331 million Swiss francs that year. Since March 2008, SEZ is part of the US Lam Research and has since no longer on the Swiss Exchange SWX Swiss Exchange listed . Around 420 employees work at the Villach location (as of October 2015).
