SGS Hanover
The Starting Community Swimming Hanover (SGS Hanover) is an organizational amalgamation of eight smaller swimming clubs and the swimming sections of larger sports clubs from Hanover . This amalgamation also enables smaller clubs to take part in major competitions with just a few swimmers . The clubs share the costs for the competitions (entry fees, travel expenses). SGS Hannover was founded on February 2nd, 1977 in Hannover.

Sporting successes (selection)
- Christiane Pielke won bronze in the 4 × 100 meter freestyle bronze at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was fifth in the 200 meter medley.
- Timo Nolte was German champion in 1993 over 100 meters chest
- Sylvia Gerasch became German champion in 1993 over 100 meters and 200 meters chest
- Lars Conrad became German champion in 1998 over 100 meters freestyle
- the men's team of SGS Hannover became German champions in 1999 over 4 × 100 meters and 4 × 200 meters freestyle
- Stephan Kunzelmann became German champion in 2002 over 50 meters and 100 meters freestyle
- Birte Steven became German champion in 2004 over 200 meters breast
- In 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004 the men's team of the SGS swam in the 1st Bundesliga (DMS) , the best season end was 4th place.
- Alina Staffeldt was the German year-old champion in the 50 meter freestyle in 2010.
