The SSV Elspe (officially . Games and sports club Elspe 1911 eV ) is a sports club from the Lennestadt neighborhood Elspe in Olpe . The first soccer team took part in the DFB Cup once.
history
The association was founded in 1911. The first game in the club's history was lost against Edelweiß Grevenbrück 1:17. During the 1920s the club called itself DJK Elspe and was involved in the game operations of the German youth force . The association has had its current name since October 28, 1945. The footballers' home ground has been the Wiesengrund sports facility since 1961 . In addition to soccer, the club also offers gymnastics , mountain biking and tennis .
In 1955, the team, which was playing in the district class at the time, missed qualifying for the West German Cup against state division club TuS Eiringhausen . Three years later he was promoted to the district class. In 1977 the Elsper achieved their greatest success by qualifying for the DFB Cup. The team had to compete in the first round at the Hessian national division SC Gladenbach and lost with 1: 2. In 1985, the SSV made it to the Landesliga Westfalen and reached their sporting zenith with third place in the 1985/86 season. In the following years things went downhill for the club. After two relegations in a row, the team slipped into the district league B in 2008. Since the promotion in 2010, the team has played in the Olper District League A.
