history

The club was founded in 1908 as FSV Laufenburg. In 1946 it was re-established as the Laufenburg sports association. The club has had the current name SV 08 Laufenburg since 1951.

Until 1971, SV 08 played in the division of the Upper Rhine district. At the end of the 1970/71 season, the club rose as a champion of the A-Class Upper Rhine in the 2nd Amateur League South Baden Season II. The runner-up in the first season was followed a year later in 1973 by promotion to the 1st Amateur League South Baden. The SV stayed there for two seasons until 1975. After that, the club was a regular in the 2nd amateur league and its successor in the Landesliga Südbaden. In 1992 the runner-up on the promotion round succeeded again in the top division in South Baden, which was renamed the Association League in 1978. This time they stayed there four seasons before relegation followed in 1996. Thanks to the championship in the Landesliga Südbaden Season 2, there was another short guest appearance in the Association League Südbaden in 1999/2000. Relegation was followed in 2002 by direct re-promotion via the round of national league champions. The Laufenburg played three years in the association league until they were relegated in 2005. In the 2008/09 season, SV 08 Laufenburg was one of the clubs that controversially deducted points from a series of games in which a player was involved whose game license was granted turned out to be invalid. From 2009 to 2013 the SV competed in the district league Hochrhein, as their champion he returned to the state league in 2013. After four seasons, relegation to the district league took place in 2017.
