The SV Preußen-Borussia Stettin (officially: Sport-Verein Preußen-Borussia 1900 Stettin eV ) was a German sports club from the Pomeranian capital Stettin .

history

The club was formed in 1937 from the merger of SC Preußen Stettin (founded in 1901) with the 1st Szczecin swimming club Borussia-Poseidon 1900 Stettin (founded in 1900). He took the starting place of Prussia Stettin in the first-class Gauliga Pomerania for the season 1937/38 . 1938/39 ended Prussia Borussia Stettin had, so the club in the second division to increase the Gauligasaison in last place. In 1939/40 Stettin won the second-class 1st class District 3 Oderland Department A , thus qualified for the promotion round to Gauliga Pommern 1940/41 and secured promotion to the Gauliga Pommern by taking first place in the table in this round. In the Gauliga Pommern 1940/41 , which was divided into two sections , the club was last placed in Group West with only one win and two draws and had to relegate again to the second division. The season of 1941-42 spent Prussia Borussia Stettin in the first class district 3 or country and reached the sixth place in the standings. Also in the following seasons, the club achieved midfield placements in the second-class 1st class. In 1944/45 the original Gauliga was dissolved and all teams still capable of playing were divided into sports groups. The SV Prussia-Borussia Szczecin played within the sports circle group Stettin and had the time of abandonment of the gaming operation in November 1944 in third place.

After the Second World War, Stettin, which was part of the German Empire, was annexed by the Soviet Union and placed under Polish administration . The SV Preußen-Borussia Stettin was - like all other German clubs and institutions - forcibly dissolved.

The SV Preußen-Borussia Stettin played its games in the Preußenplatz at the Stoewerwerke in the northwestern district of Neutorney. The stadium is now called Miejski Stadion Lekkoatletyczny w Szczecinie and is mainly used for athletics .

Handball

The women's field handball division qualified for the German women's field handball championship in 1937/38 , but was eliminated in the first round after a 1: 5 defeat against SpVgg ASCO Königsberg .
