The Gauliga Pommern 1939/40 (officially: Gauklasse Pommern ) was the seventh season of the Gauliga Pommern of the German Football Association . With the beginning of the Second World War there were again some changes in the championship. On August 27, 1939, the planned start of the Gauliga for the next day was canceled. To bridge the gap, round games and a city championship (winner: MTV Pommerensdorf ) and a special round were held in Stettin , both of which ended on November 26, 1939. On December 3, 1939, the championships finally started in all divisions.
The LSV Pütnitz withdrew due to the war voluntarily in the first district now called second tier classes. The actual promoted HSV Köslin did not take part in the game operation, as the club probably no longer existed due to the war. As a result, more clubs rise from the district classes. The police SV Stettin and SV Sturm Lauenburg also withdrew during the season. The Gau class Pomerania was divided into two groups. The respective group winners played the Gaume Championship in finals. In the end, the promoted VfL Stettin prevailed against SV Germania Stolp and became Gaumeister for the first time. Through this championship, Stettin qualified for the German soccer championship 1939/40 , in which the last place in sub-group 1a was achieved without a win.
