The Pomeranian district class was a second-rate football league in the Sportgau Pomerania during the Nazi era . It served as the substructure of the Gauliga Pomerania , existed from 1933 to 1944 and was played in several groups (also called departments ). The winners of the departments then played the two promoted players to the first-class Gauliga Pomerania in a promotion round. From 1940 the district class 1st class was called Pomerania .
history
After through the DC circuit -related resolution of the association Brandenburgischer ball game teams and the Baltic Sports Federation , 1933, the teams were classified II Pomerania from Pomerania in the Sportgau. The Pomeranian clubs that were best placed in the two associations in the 1932/33 season were given a starting place in the first-class Gauliga Pomerania, the remaining clubs were classified in the lower leagues.
The Pomeranian district class started in 1933/34 with three departments with eight participating teams each. Already for the coming season, the division was expanded to six departments (now called groups ), the promotion round was carried out separately for the East and West department of the Gauliga. In 1936/37, due to the decision to reduce the Gauliga Pomeranian to ten participants for the following season, there was the special feature that the two winners of the promotion round did not advance directly to the Gauliga, but had to play an additional qualifying round with four representatives of the Gauliga Pomeranian. The next change came in 1937/38, from then on there were four seasons of the second-class divisions with eleven participants each (exception: district class Grenzmark with nine participants). With the beginning of the Second World War, gaming operations initially stalled. The leagues were reorganized, the district class was now called 1st class and was played in eight districts. There was another new division for the 1942/43 season, 31 circles were formed, which were combined into nine district groups.
Due to the war, 1st class was disbanded after the 1943/44 season. All teams still able to play in the Gau were divided into different sports district groups.
Similar to the Gauliga Pomeranian, the Pomeranian district class was dominated by military sports clubs and company sports associations of war-important companies at the latest during the Second World War , which pushed the civil clubs further and further back.
