The SV Speicher is a football club from the city of Speicher .
history
The association was founded in 1913. After the Second World War, the company was re-established under the name FC Speicher . In the 1950/51 season they won the district class championship and were able to celebrate promotion to the state league , which was then the highest amateur class. After two less successful decades, the game year 1972/73 brought again the championship of the district class in two playoffs against the tied competitor VfL Trier . In the stadium of Bitburg they split 1: 1 in two games in front of 4,000 spectators, the penalty shootout was won by SV Speicher and thus rose to the amateur league Rhineland for the first time .
The greatest sporting success in 1978 was the qualification for the newly founded Oberliga Südwest . There the team could not keep up with the sporting level of competitors such as SV Röchling Völklingen , FK Pirmasens and FSV Mainz 05 and were relegated after one season. In the 1979/80 season , the club took part in the first main round of the DFB Cup and was defeated by the North Rhine-Oberligisten 1. FC Bocholt in front of 2000 spectators with 0: 8.
