The SV Stahl Finow in 1951 as a company sports club of the former VEB mill Finow founded.

Sailing Department

The sailing department is the oldest and largest sailing club on the Werbellinsee . The port is located at the western end of the lake in the Eichhorst district of Wildau .

The club was founded in 1951 and is the organizer of the annual advertising lens regatta. In the year it was founded, the association only had 4 pine pirates , 10 years after it was founded, the section already had 140 members with 50 boats. One of the boats from the first year is still owned by a club member.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Stahl Finow was often the GDR champions in pirate sailing and was also successful nationwide in this discipline. The most successful year was 1976, when the first three places in pirate sailing were placed in the GDR championship. In 1979, 1980 and 1982 the GDR winners also came from Stahl Finow.

Since 1994, the Stahl Finow sailing club has received the Blue Flag for environmentally conscious behavior six times in a row . The focus of the department is on regattas, both for children and young people as well as for adults. In 2011 the department hosted the International German Championship in the Ixylon class and in 2013 hosted the GermanOpen of the 20 dinghy cruiser . Some sailors are active in cruising and collect points there.
