Sabaa Tahir (* 1983 ) is a Pakistani - American author.

Life

Tahir grew up as a child of Pakistani immigrants and motel operators in the Mojave Desert . She devoted herself to reading books at an early age and was influenced by Joanne K. Rowling , Terry Brooks and Antoine de Saint Exupery , among others . She attended Sherman E. Burroughs High School and then the University of California at Los Angeles . She worked for the Washington Post as an intern during her studies and as an editor after graduation. The intense encounter with reports on the Middle East led to her first novel "Elias & Laia - The Rule of the Masks" being published on April 28, 2015. It reached second place in the New York Times bestseller list and was voted best book for young adults by Amazon.de in May 2015. Paramount Pictures is planning a film adaptation of the work with the film producer Mark Johnson .

Tahit currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area .

Works

Tahir writes fantasy & science fiction for young people and adults. Her first work Elias & Laia - The rule of the masks is about a girl who wants to free her brother from prison. At the same time, a soldier is trying to break free from the ruling regime.

The novel Elias & Laia - A torch in the dark of the night , published in August 2016, builds on this story. On June 12, 2018, the book “A Reaper at the Gates”, which was previously only available in English, will be published.
