Sabin Bălașa

Sabin Bălașa (born June 17, 1932 in Dobriceni , Olt district , † April 1, 2008 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian painter , filmmaker and author .

He became known as a fresco painter. His most famous works are in the University of Alexandru Ioan Cuza Iași . He was considered the court painter of Nicolae Ceaușescu . He had exhibitions in Rome in 1978 and 1980, in Stockholm in 1982, in the Bucharest National Museum in 1982, in Kerkera (Greece) in 1985, in Moscow, Tbilisi and other places in the Soviet Union in 1988, in Bucharest in 1992, in Israel in 1994, in the Bucharest World Trade Center 2000, in the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași in 2002 and in Bucharest in 2005.

He published numerous works, including three novels. He has been a screenwriter, director and filmmaker of 12 films about painting.
