Sabine is an impact crater on the front of the moon on the edge of Mare Tranquillitatis , southeast of the Ritter crater . The crater floor is uneven and there are traces of extensive landslides on the inner crater wall.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Irish astronomer Edward Sabine . Approximately 85 kilometers to the southeast, the first manned moon landing took place in 1969 with Apollo 11 .
