Sabine Appel

Sabine Appel (* 1967 in Schotten ) is a German specialist in German studies and non-fiction author .

Sabine Appel studied German and philosophy in Mannheim and Heidelberg. She completed studies in Paris and Cambridge. In 1995 Appel received his doctorate in Heidelberg with a thesis on Thomas Mann's fictional character Felix Krull , supervised by Dieter Borchmeyer and Reiner Wiehl . Since then she has been working as a freelance book author. Appel wrote biographies about Elisabeth I , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Caroline Schelling , Madame de Staël , Friedrich Nietzsche , Heinrich VIII. And Katharina von Medici . Her portrayal of Goethe was named “ Book of the Year ” in 1998. In 2000 she received a literary grant from the Ministry of Culture, Rhineland-Palatinate. In 2012 she was a scholarship holder of the Hessian Literature Council in Aquitaine / France. Appel also taught at university in the areas of German language and literature, philosophy and creative writing.
