Ahmed Barada (born April 25, 1977 in Cairo ) is a former Egyptian squash player . In 1999 he became vice world champion in singles and world champion with the team.

Career

Ahmed Barada became Junior World Champion in 1994 after beating his compatriot Omar Elborolossy in five sets . He celebrated his greatest successes in the 1999 season when he lost the Super Series final to Peter Nicol . He was also in the final of the World Cup , which he also lost against Peter Nicol in front of his home crowd in Cairo with 15: 9, 15:13 and 15:11. With the Egyptian national team he became world champion after a final victory over Wales. His best placement in the world rankings was second in December 1998. At the 1997 World Games in Lahti , he won the gold medal ahead of Derek Ryan from Ireland.

In 2000, Ahmed Barada was stabbed to death by an unknown perpetrator outside his home in Cairo. After recovering from this injury, there was only a brief comeback. In August 2001, Ahmed Barada announced his retirement from the professional squash.

Ahmed Barada is now working as a professional singer.
