Omar Elborolossy (born October 11, 1975 in Giza ) is a former Egyptian squash player .

Career

Omar Elborolossy began his professional career as a junior player in 1993 and won a total of 14 titles on the PSA Tour . In 1994 he reached the final of the World Cup for Juniors. He lost this against his compatriot Ahmed Barada with 0: 9, 9: 7, 9: 3, 3: 9 and 2: 9. He achieved his best result at the men's world championships when he made it to the round of 16 in 1999 . With the Egyptian national team, he took part in seven world championships, including the juniors. By winning the 1999 World Cup , Omar Elborolossy achieved his greatest success. In the final against Wales he defeated David Evans 3-1 and secured Egypt the title early.

He played his last game on the World Tour in 2008 at Hurghada International against Mohammed Abbas . He reached the highest ranking in the world rankings with rank 14 in June 2001.

In June 2005 he founded the Elborolossy Squash Academy , in which, in addition to looking after top Egyptian players such as Karim Darwish or Raneem El Weleily , the main focus is on promoting talent. He runs the academy together with his wife Salma , who has a son and a daughter. She is the sister of the four-time world champion Amr Shabana . From November 1, 2013 he was the national coach of the Egyptian national teams for men, women and juniors. He replaced Amir Wagih , with whom Elborolossy was team world champion in 1999. In 2015 he was again replaced by Amr Shabana.

In parallel to his squash career, Omar Elborolossy graduated from the American University in Cairo with a degree in civil engineering .
