Sabine Bartelsheim

Sabine Bartelsheim (* 1965 in Laer ) is a German art historian .

Live and act

Sabine Bartelsheim studied art history, German literature and education at the universities of Trier, Münster and Bonn. In 1999 she did her doctorate at the University of Cologne and was a research assistant at the Kunsthalle zu Kiel from 2000 to 2002.

From 2005 to 2006 she took on curatorial activities with a focus on contemporary art at Haus am Waldsee in Berlin. From 2007 to 2011 she was a research assistant at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal in the field of art and design history, after which she worked as a freelancer for research publications.

Sabine Bartelsheim has been a lecturer in art studies at the University of Fine Arts Essen since 2014 , was appointed professor in 2015 and has been Vice President of the HBK Essen since 2017. Her professional focus is the art of the 20th and 21st centuries, in particular art and design, images of nature and memory functions in contemporary art.
