Sabine Lösing

Sabine Lösing (born November 30, 1955 in Bad Godesberg ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From July 2009 to 2019 she was a member of the European Parliament . There she was responsible for foreign and security policy. From February 2013 to February 2015 she was chairwoman of the Lower Saxony Left State Association.

Life and work

After being active in the school and apprenticeship movement from 1973 onwards, Lösing began studying social sciences, art history and economics at the University of Göttingen in 1975 , which she graduated in 1985 with a degree in social economics. Since then she has worked as a social worker and, after completing additional training, as a social therapist .

Since 1975, Lösing has been involved in various extra-parliamentary projects, and since 2001 with Attac . In 2004 she was one of the founding members of the WASG and was a member of the federal executive committee of this party. In 2006 Sabine Lösing was nominated as candidate for mayor of Göttingen by the Göttingen Linke voter association. From 2008 to 2014 she was a member of the executive committee of Die Linke, where she was responsible for international and peace politics from 2012.

MEPs

The solution was from 2009 to 2019 for the Left MEPs in the European Parliament. Lösing was deputy chairwoman of the subcommittee on security and defense , member of the delegation in the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly and coordinator of the left European group GUE / NGL in the Foreign Affairs Committee and the subcommittee on security and defense of the European Parliament.
