artificially created lake, open pit residual lake |
The Sabrodter See , in Upper Sorbian Zabrodski jězor , is a flooded lake in the remaining hole of the former open pit "Spreetal-Nordrandschlauch" mine. It is located north of Hoyerswerda and south of the village of Sabrodt near the Brandenburg border in the Saxon Lausitz . It is part of the emerging Lusatian Lakeland .
A sports and golf resort with hotels, a wellness park, event hall and speedboat center is to be built on Sabrodter See. With an investment volume of 100 million euros, the project will be of great importance for the development of the entire region, but it is still in the planning phase. More than 500 jobs are planned.
Like the neighboring lakes, the lake is currently still owned by the LMBV , but is to be taken over by the Free State of Saxony, as agreed in June 2005. West of the Sabrodter See are the Blunoer Südsee and Neuwieser See , east of the Spreetaler See and south of the Bergener See . Sabrodter See is connected to some of these lakes via the planned and partly under construction crossovers 1, 2 and 3.
In September 2014 the water level was 99.6 m above sea level, which corresponds to 73% of the desired level (LMBV information).
Location of the lake
The lake area, which includes the former Spreetal, Bluno and Spreetal-Nordost opencast mines, is located in the north of Hoyerswerda . It is limited
- in the north by federal highway 156
- in the south by a branch of the Bergener See
- in the west by the Blunoer Südsee
- in the east through forest areas.
History of the lake
The Sabrodter See does not have its own open-cast mining history. For the design of the post-mining landscape of the Spreetal opencast mine , the original plan was to use earth from the Proschim opencast mine . This was supposed to go into operation in 1992, but that never happened. For this reason, 50 million cubic meters of overburden from the Scheibe opencast mine was transported to the remaining Spreetal hole via a conveyor system . These masses were nowhere near enough to fill the hole. Therefore, from the remaining holes in the Spreetal opencast mine, the Blunoer Südsee (from the remaining hole Nordschlauch ), the Neuwieser See (from the remaining hole Bluno ), the Sabrodter See (from the remaining hole Nordrandschlauch ) and the Bergener See (from the remaining hole Südostschlauch ) were created.
Data in final state
- Water surface: 207 ha
- Storage volume: 28 million m³
- Water level: 104 m above sea level
- Flooding: 2006 to 2020
The bridges
Transformer 1
- see Spreetaler See / Überleiter 1
Transformer 2
The bridge 2 will connect the Sabrodter See with the Bergener See over a 240 meter long and up to 2.50 meter deep canal . Since both lakes will have approximately the same water level, there is no need to build a lock. The construction of a bridge is planned. In order to meet the requirements of nature conservation, closed shallow water zones with reed stocks are set up along this canal and artificial breeding and nesting opportunities are created on the bridge structure. In the main breeding season from April to July, there will be a general ban on use and driving on the bridge 2 .
Transformer 3
The overpass 3 will connect the Sabrodter See to the Blunoer Südsee via a 130 meter long and up to 3.50 meter deep canal . Since both lakes will have approximately the same water level, there is no need to build a lock. The construction of a bridge is planned.
