artificially created lake, open pit residual lake |
The (sometimes also "the") Blunoer Südsee ( Upper Sorbian Južny Blunjanski jězor ) is a residual open pit lake of the Lusatian chain of lakes in the Saxon part of the Lusatian Lakeland , in the area of the municipality of Elsterheide . The lake owes its name on the one hand to its location south of the town of Bluno , on the other hand, in view of the planned tourist use, associations with the South Pacific are quite desirable.
The lake is created by flooding the “Nordschlauch” remaining hole in the Spreetal opencast mine. Other lakes in this former open- cast lignite mine are the Sabrodter See (remaining hole "Nordrandschlauch") in the east, Neuwieser See (remaining hole "Bluno") in the south and the Bergener See (remaining hole "Südostschlauch") in the southeast. When the lake reaches its intended final water level of 104 m above sea level in 2015 . Has reached NHN , it should be 350 hectares in size. In March 2011 it was three quarters full.
Flooding
Since 2005, in addition to the water from the Spree and Schwarzer Elster , the Lausitzer Seenland has also been fed external water from the Lausitz Neisse via ditch systems. With the faster and more even flooding made possible by this, the renovators hope to counteract the leakage of acidic tipping water into the lakes. In March 2011, the pH of the lake was 2.7 that of sour cherry juice.
Crossover
When the lakes in the former Spreetal open-cast mine are fully flooded, they should be connected to each other via navigable canals (crossovers), of which the shortest, the crossover 3 a to Neuwieser See, is already under construction (as of mid-2011). Another bridge is to connect the “South Sea” with Lake Partwitz on the border with the state of Brandenburg .
Transformer 3
Transformer 3 a
The bridge 3 a will connect the Blunoer Südsee via a 90 meter long and 2.5 to 3.5 meter deep canal with the Neuwieser See . The canal has a shut-off structure to regulate the flow rate, and it is to be spanned by a bridge.
Transformer 7
The bridge 7 will connect the Blunoer Südsee via a 700 meter long and 3.5 meter deep canal with the Partwitz lake . Of the 700 meters, 55 m is accounted for by a lock system and 57 m by the inlet and outlet channel to Lake Partwitz. A road bridge ( State Road 234) with a span of 34.5 meters is planned near the South Sea of Bluno .
