During a reading tour through Italy, the writer Sadie is invited by her former lover Alex for a weekend in his Italian villa. Alex was the only one who could satisfy her sexual desires so far. He reminds her of her dark past, which she hopes to forget. Sadie declines the invitation. She would rather go to Paris to meet the parents of her friend Thierry. After an argument in the hotel, however, she leaves the room and looks for Alex. In an underground club, Sadie meets the Italian dancer Francesca and is immediately enthusiastic about her. When Alex repeats his invitation, Sadie agrees, but only on condition that Francesca takes part. Sadie is also hoping to get material for her next book.
The villa is a 10th century castle. After a passionate day in the ornate halls of the castle and under the influence of pills, the attraction between Sadie and Francesca deepens both physically and emotionally. But in addition to the romantic excitement, Sadie is haunted by perverted and violent visions all day. The next day the guests arrive for the weekend party. It will be a meeting full of pleasure and without rules. The decadent dream turns into a tainted nightmare as the sinister nature of the weekend unfolds to the full. Sadie is trapped in a dangerous and surreal labyrinth of lust and violence in which she can no longer trust anyone, not even herself and her own understanding of reality. Sadie watches as a young woman is murdered during a ritual. The next morning she doesn't know if it was real or not. She wants to flee, but is picked up again and her attempt to escape is prevented.
Thierry arrives in the evening and wants to leave with her, but she refuses. She no longer loves him and he is leaving again. To escape, Sadie must make a gruesome choice. In the evening she wants to play another game. Alex leads her into a large hall where the next victim is already waiting. It's Thierry, bound and gagged. Sadie is supposed to kill him, but instead she stabs Alex with the gun. Francesca kills Thierry while Sadie escapes through the castle's secret tunnels. In New York, Sadie is giving a reading for her new book. Francesca shows up, certain that Sadie's return to her is inevitable.
