The Sagehen-Nunatakker are triangular in its base group from its base from measured 150 m high Nunatakkern in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Maud Mountains, they tower 8 km north of McNally Peak on the eastern flank of Holdsworth Glacier .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. Geologists from Arizona State University explored it between 1978 and 1979 as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program . They also named it after Cecil the Sagehen (English for Cecil the mugwort ), the mascot of Pomona College in Claremont , alma mater of geologist Scott G. Borg, who was involved in the exploration.
