Sagopa Kajmer , real name Yunus Özyavuz , also Silahsız Kuvvet or DJ Mic Check , (born August 17, 1978 in Samsun , Turkey ) is a Turkish rapper, DJ and producer.

Live and act

From his youth it is only known that he spent it in his hometown Samsun, whose district Bafra . In his youth he wrote poetry. Then he performed for the first time as a DJ on a local radio station as a teenager .

In 1997 he moved to Istanbul to there at the Istanbul University to study Persian language and literature. He continued to finance himself with radio appearances and was able to found his own studio Kuvvetmira a year later with moderate financial means . In 1999 he was a participant in the first Turkish hip-hop compilation Yeraltı Operasyonu ( Eng . "Operation Underground"). On this he was represented on two pieces with his first stage name Silahsız Kuvvet ( Eng . "Weapon-free power"). Kajmer's musical style is known as pessimist rap .

In 2001 he brought out the album Sözlerim Silahım ( Eng . "My words are my weapons"). A year later, Ihtiyar Heyeti ( Eng . "Council of Elders") appeared. This record was also the last under his stage name Silahsiz Kuvvet . In 2002 he made a new debut as Sagopa Kajmer with the album of the same name. Sagopa no longer relied on battletracks and insults, but rapped in clean language. His new stage name Sagopa Kajmer is made up of the name of an Egyptian pyramid Sagopa and the surname of the German archaeologist and discoverer of this pyramid, Gerhard Kajmeri .

Sagopa was involved in more and more projects and in 2003 his double album Bir Pesimistin Gözyaşları ( Eng . "The tears of a pessimist") was released. Together with Cem Yilmaz, he was responsible for the soundtrack for the Turkish film GORA , one of his most commercial projects. He rapped and produced the first single and the video clip. In 2005 his third album Romantizma was released , a play on words from the Turkish words for romance and rheumatism. This was again gloomy and had socially critical and youth-oriented texts, but was also equipped with a few street hymns. His last album so far came out in 2014 and is called "Ahmak Islatan".

Productions and other releases

Sagopa is known as a producer under the pseudonym DJ Mic Check . With his beats and his label he paved the way for other Turkish MCs. Among other things, he produced Ceza's solo albums and the solo debut of Dr. Fuchs , for whom he also worked as a guest rapper. In 2005 he made Kolera (Esen Güler Özyavuz) - Sagopa's wife since August 1, 2006 - the first female MC in Turkey to be heard on album length. The production of their album goes back to Sagopa to a large extent.

One result of the collaboration between the two was the 2007 album İkimizi Anlatan Birşey (German: “Something that describes us both”). His sound is still characterized by the gloomy atmosphere, even if not as melancholy as on “Bir Pesimistin Gözyaşları” (Eng. “Tears of a pessimist”). Lyrically he is still critical of society and deals with superstitious, religious topics and the bad sides of life. The video clips for the tracks Kendim İçin (German “For me”) and Monotonluk Maratonu (German “marathon of monotony” or “monotony marathon”) were released in early 2008.

On March 14, 2008 his Kötü İnsanları Tanıma Senesi ( Eng . "The year of getting to know bad people") was published. The title is aimed at his colleagues in the scene who had previously publicly attacked him.
