Achim Egner

Achim Egner (born December 17, 1957 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German lawyer . From April 18, 2005 to September 1, 2006 he was the spokesman for the management board of Rewe -Zentral AG.

Egner studied law from 1978 at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he also received his doctorate in 1987. jur. PhD.

After a temporary position in a law firm in Freiburg, he became head of the legal department and authorized signatory at Rhône-Poulenc Rhodia in Freiburg in 1989 and, from 1990, commercial director at Rhône-Poulenc Nordfaser in Neumünster in the same group.

In 1992 he started at Quelle AG in Fürth as director for corporate development, strategy, organization and real estate. In 1995 he moved to debis AG, where he worked for a year as head of international projects in Berlin and during this time accompanied the restructuring of the debis stake in Cap Gemini .

In November 1996 Egner became a member of debitel's management , initially as a deputy and from the end of 1997 as a full member. In May 2002 he was appointed deputy chairman of the board, where he was responsible for international business activities, investment management and marketing. After the takeover by Permira , he left Debitel in September 2004.

On April 18, 2005, Egner took over the classic departments of strategy, corporate development, controlling, human resources and law as Rewe board spokesman. He was the spokesman for the board of Rewe-Zentral AG as well as Rewe-Zentralfinanz eG in Cologne and Rewe German supermarket KGaA in Wiesbaden.

After members of the company management had made negative comments to the supervisory board about Egner and his management style, the latter asked in a joint press release to terminate his contract. The supervisory board accepted Egner's request on September 1, 2006 and provisionally appointed Alain Caparros as Egner's successor. It is uncertain whether the leadership style was really decisive. Other opinions say that he broke too much with old structures and clusters and wanted to introduce too many restructurings and innovations in a short time. This made him unpopular with the long-time REWE managers.

Since February 1, 2007, Egner has been a board member of Fichtner Management Consulting (FMC), Stuttgart.

Memberships

Egner is chairman of the supervisory board of LTU in Düsseldorf and a member of the supervisory board of R + V Versicherung in Wiesbaden. At Bayerische Landesbank in Munich he is a member of the economic advisory board.

After having previously worked as a co-opted member of the supervisory board of VfB Stuttgart , Egner became an honorary member of the VfB board in October 2000 with the new president Manfred Haas as well as Ulrich Ruf , Karlheinz Förster and Hansi Müller . In February 2001 Egner announced his resignation as a board member of VfB Stuttgart.

Private

The football fan and former supervisory board member of VfB Stuttgart is married and has two children.
