Said Awad

Said A. Awad (born before 1959) is an Egyptian urologist . He was a professor and researcher in the urology department in the fields of neurourology , urodynamics and urinary incontinence .

Life and work

Awad from Cairo studied medicine at the University of Cairo and graduated with a doctorate in 1959.

In 1973 he started working in the urology department at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario . There he built up the neurourology department and headed the first urodynamics laboratory to be established in the region.

In 1980 he moved to Dalhousie University , where he headed the urology department until 1997.

His research focuses on the areas of neurourology, urodynamics and urinary incontinence. He is a member of the International Contienance Society , which sponsors scientists who research the field of urinary incontinence. From 1991 to 1992 he was President of the Northeastern Section Research and Education Fund of the American Urological Association .

Awad retired on July 31, 2003 and has lived with his wife in Halifax, Nova Scotia since then .
