Saint-Philippe du Roule is an underground station on line 9 of the Paris Métro .
location
The station is located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris . It is located lengthways under Avenue du Président Wilson at the intersection with Rue la Boétie . On the Rue La Fayette is shopping street Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore to reach.
Surname
The station is named after the nearby Saint-Philippe-du-Roule church . The village of Le Roule, Faubourg du Roule since 1722 , was incorporated into Paris in 1860. His church, consecrated in 1784, was named after the apostle Philip .
history
The Saint-Philippe du Roule station began operating on May 27, 1923, when line 9 was extended from the Trocadéro station to the Saint-Augustin station.
description
The station has two side platforms on two main tracks. It has an elliptical cross-section, the ceiling and walls are tiled. The two exits are on either side of Avenue du Président Wilson in front of Rue la Boétie , the western one is provided with an escalator.
vehicles
Initially, Sprague-Thomson trains ran on line 9 , and in 1983 they were replaced by those of the MF 67 series . The MF 01 series has been increasingly used since October 2013 .
