Saiyuki Reload ( Japanese 最 遊記 RELOAD , Gensōmaden Saiyūki ) is a manga by the Japanese illustrator Kazuya Minekura and the continuation of her work Saiyuki . The manga was filmed several times.

content

The story continues the journey of the priest Genjo Sanzo, the monkey god Son Goku, the demon Cho Hakkai and the half-demon Sha Gojo. They travel west to save their world from a powerful demon.

Creation and publication

The manga has been published in the Manga magazine Comic Zero-Sum published by Issaisha since 2002 . The individual chapters have so far been published in eight edited volumes. The series was published in English by Tokyopop in the USA.

The Studio Pierrot produced in 2003, directed by Tetsuya Endo , a 15-part anime - television series based on the manga. The character design was created by Noriko Otake and the artistic direction was taken over by Mio Ishiki. The series was broadcast from October 2, 2003 to March 25, 2004 by the Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo . From April 1, 2004 to September 23, 2004, the second season followed under the title Saiyuki Gunload with 26 episodes.

The series was broadcast in English by Animax- Asia and translated into French and Tagalog.

The music for the series was composed by Daisuke Ikeda. The opening credits for the first season, Wild Rock , were produced by BUZZLIP. The end credits songs of the second season are ID was flow to and Fukisusabu Kaze no Naka de WAG. Don't look back again from WAG was used for the opening credits of Saiyuki Gunlock and Mitsumeteitai by flow-war and Shiro no Jumon by doa were used for the credits .

OVA

In April 2007, an original video animation for Saiyuki Reload was released in Japan under the title Saiyuki Reload: Burial . Koichi Ohata directed the three-part production by Studio Pierrot . The character design was done by Yonzo, the artistic director was Yuji Ikeda. The opening credits are Late Show by Garden, the credits song Shiny Moon by Toshihiko Seki, Souichiro Hoshi and Hiroaki Hirata.

The OVA is about the characters' stories and is based on volumes 3 and 4 of the manga.
