The Sakazuki Rock ( Japanese さ か ず き 岩 Sakazuki-iwa , German 'drinking bowl rock ' ) is a structureless rock outcrop on the Crown Prince Olav coast in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It rises immediately to the west of Tama Point .
Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962 were used to map it. Japanese scientists also made the name in 1962, which the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names gave in 1975 in a partial translation into English.
