The sacristy bell is a small bell or a multi-part small bell inside a Catholic church . It is attached to the wall next to the sacristy door through which the procession enters the church and is provided with a pulling device. The sacristy bells and their hangings are often artistically designed.

The sacristy bell is struck upon entry and announces the beginning of the liturgy . It is usually operated by the first of the liturgical services moving into the church , usually an altar boy ; or from the sexton . When the bell rings, the assembled congregation rises and the organ intones the opening chant.
