Saleh Rusheidat

Saleh Rusheidat (born January 1, 1946 ) is a Jordanian politician and diplomat . He was a minister and at times Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan.

Life

From 1971 he studied in the GDR at the University of Leipzig and received his doctorate there in 1975 in the field of civil engineering. This was followed by an activity as an engineer for Arabtec in various projects. From 1976 to 1979 he worked as a project manager for Aramco . 1979/1980 he worked as deputy director for the founding of Queen Alia International Airport . From 1981 to 1990 he worked for the International Engineering Union . In 1991 he became the Jordanian Minister for Youth. From 1991 to 1993 he was then chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Jordan .

From 1993 to 1997 he was a member of the 12th Jordanian Parliament. In 1994 he became the Jordanian Minister for Water and Irrigation. During this time he was also a member of the National Education Council of Jordan and from 1994 to 1996 also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Valley Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Water Authority. In 1996 he took over the office of Jordanian Minister of Tourism. In 1996 and 1997 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Marketing Authority and the Petra Region Authority.

From 1998 to 2000 he was a member of the board of trustees of Mu'tah University . From 2000 to 2009 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite University . He was also a member of various supervisory and administrative boards, for example from 1997 to 2000 at Jordan Arab Potash, from 1999 to 2000 at Arab Potash, in public transport, including the Hejaz Railway and the Aqaba Railway . He took over the chairmanship of the Jordanian civil aviation authority.

In 2000 he became Minister of Transport, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister.

In 2003 he became the Jordanian ambassador to Germany . He was also accredited in Sweden , Poland , Denmark and Finland . He held this position until 2005.

In 2006 he took over the position of Vice President of Sigma - Engineers Consultants .

Saleh Rusheidat has been a member of the 23rd Jordanian Senate since 2009 . He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Jordan and belongs to a Jordanian human rights organization. Rusheidat is also a member of the Jordanian Association of Engineers. He is also President of the German-Jordanian Friendship Association.
