The Salerner is one of the most attractive warm-blooded breeds in Italy . Overall he has an attractive appearance and is a good type of cavalry horse with a good jumping ability.

Exterior
The Salerno Horse has a shoulder height of 163 cm and can be found in this breed all clear colors. Generally he has good body proportions with a well positioned sloping shoulder and a strong hindquarters. The limbs are also correct with good hooves.
Breeding history
The origin of this breed lies in the 18th century in the Italian state stud Persano, whose horses went back to the Neapolitans . These were crossed with native horses from the Salerno and Ofanto valleys, and Arab and Spanish blood was also added. The result was a good riding horse.
However, the stud was dissolved with the establishment of the Italian Republic . Breeding was resumed around 1900 and since then this breed has been called Salerner. Today it is mainly bred at the Morese Stud .
